Dr. Weinstein is Professor of Pathology, and Radiology & Medical Imaging, at The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson. Dr. Weinstein received his M.D. degree from Tufts University. He did a residency in pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where he participated in diagnosing some of the earliest telemedicine cases in ground-breaking MGH-Logan International Airport telemedicine program, in early 1968. In 1986, he invented, patented and commercialized robotic telepathology. Dr. Weinstein is; Founding Director of the Arizona Telemedicine Program; Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Telemedicine and Telehealth (T-Health Institute, Phoenix); and Co-Director of the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center. He is Past-President of; the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology; the Association for Pathology Informatics: the International Society for Urological Pathology; the International Council of Societies of Pathology; and is President-Emeritus of the American Telemedicine Association. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Major in the US Air Force. He co-founder of five hi-tech companies and served as an academic pathology chair for 32 years, in Illinois and Arizona.
